Daniel Kepl interviews Michael Patterson and Candace Reckinger for Santa Barbara’s CASA Magazine about the intense process they and their animation students enjoyed with conductor Michael Tilson Thomas in 2010-11 creating fresh animations for each of the 15 Viktor Hartmann paintings which inspired Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. The project opened Miami’s New World Center, a Frank Gehry designed, state-of-the-art concert hall.
